The thought of possibly dying alone
used to chill me as cold as a wintry stone.
But Lord, I know now, that you will send at least two
angels to fetch me and bring me unto You.

Author's Notes/Comments:
Saint Luke's Gospel tells us, in 16:22, that when the beggar Lazarus died, angels (at least two, as the term is plural) came to convey him to Heaven. Romans 2:11 tells us that God is no respecter of persons; therefore, the privilege accorded to Lazarus, plural accompanied conduct to Heaven, is made available to all believers. I used to fear fumbling at the last moment in panic; now I know that Jesus has made provision for me not to be alone at that moment. Having died into my death, He knew how frightening it had once been to me. But, also having triumphantly entered my life to bestow Salvation, He also knows well how to comfort all fears.
