Lithium

My brain recognizes him as lithium,

Only in his arms do I find equilibrium.

Never my thoughts does he purge,

My ideas he does converge,

So the dark is no longer so light,

He is my gray knight.

To her I am medicine.

I give her balance that is genuine.

Her conclusions I’ll never eradicate,

Only change their shape.

Bright I’ll dim so it’s no longer blinding,

But I will always keep her smiling.

When my brilliant blaze burns low,

He is a match that relights me aglow.

But when my inferno is no longer constrained,

He will douse me until I am tamed.

When ferocious flames no longer teem,

I will be quick with the kerosene.

When the warmth of her fire competes with hell,

Heat and light I will expel.

When I shift my weight,

He is ready to compensate.

When the dark drags me down,

His change of perception brings me around.

When her balance is hurled,

I will level her world.

As sinister leads her to the devils playground,

I will paint her a new background.

The world is so level through his eyes,

Every notion he conjures has a steady guise.

Teeter? I am not able,

Because like lithium he makes me stable.

Maybe she will see a straight horizon,

If stability is what my eyeglasses blazon.

Razing her constant roller coaster,

I am her lithium soldier.
