The Sweater You Can't Take Off

Imagine wearing a heavy sweater on a brutally hot summer day.

Makes you sweat profusely and weighs you down

Causing your heart to race and making it hard to breathe.

Preventing you to do the most simplest of tasks

Always asking yourself if your sweater is noticeable? What will people say or think?

As the day goes on you feel  more drained and pained.

Can’t focus on anything but what the sweater is doing to you.

All you are thinking about the entire day is wanting to take it off

No matter what you do, you can’t take it off as it just gets heavier when you try

Some days you can’t feel it on you, other days it’s glued inside your skin

Only sense of freedom and relief is when the sweater is off while you peacefully sleep

Author's Notes/Comments:

I started writing poems very recently during my creative writing class in the summer. I'm sure I have a lot to learn with grammar and certain etiquettes! Please feel free to give me any tips, suggestions, and feedback! :)
