you've got paid vacation time

a retirement plan in line

so there is no real reason to fuss

I've got a bag of the strongest green

a never ending tape on my answer machine

take advantage of it if you must



But I found out the reason of life is death

So don't be upset if you end with just second best

I figured if you lose the one you love most

Then you'll learn to live with a ghost

My friend, I found a 3 day bus ride to nowhere

But if you believe in me I know we'll end up somewhere

I know California is a state of mind

So there is no point in going there to waste time

And if you're right, and god is true

Well then he has some explaining to do

I've learned to expect nothing from nobody

I know not even your so called god could save me
