I ran into my past today
Downtown at the Charles St. Terminal
Contemplated saying hi
How’s it been?
Good to see you again
But I walked right by
Then sat and thought about it for a while
Watched as you went to catch your bus

I ran into my past today
On the 7 heading towards Conastoga mall
Contemplated saying hi
Congratulations
I guess you did the right thing marrying him
But I looked out the window
And wrote everything that crossed my mind
Taking great pains to keep from eye contact

I ran into my past today
Sitting between my breasts deep inside my soul
I contemplated keeping it
Tasting the bad air
Fuelling the bitter fire
But I took three deep breaths and let it go
Think I’ll run into my future from now on
