There’s a great stillness, such a sense of peace,
Lights twinkling, water rushing without a sound,
An irresistible sense of release
That urged me to turn my back on solid ground.
How intoxicating to sink like a stone -
As the tide took me I’d never felt so free -
But I swear on my life I wasn’t alone...
As you see, the fates had other plans for me.
The current somehow pushed me back to shore
When all I wanted was the water, welcoming and warm.
I kept jumping back in, longing for more,
But invisible hands came to shelter me from the storm.
Call it angels, luck, whatever you desire,
But I know what I found in that place.
I share this with you in hopes it may inspire
For I’m certain I was touched by grace.
I encountered the tides in their season of giving
But I’m needed here in the land of the living.
