Vegas Baby

This city has clearly brought out the worst in me

As I cling fiercely to your side

And circle the end of another martini.

In which hand did I lose my pride?

Well, rest assured I can win it back

For I have heart these gentlemen lack.

From time to time I fall short of grace,

But I can rise above this dirty town

With a purity it can’t erase -

You can count on me when the chips are down…

I can still be your Vegas baby.

That will never change.

Even in the cracks of the jaded concrete,

In the shadow of tawdry burlesque shows,

Season after season, surviving the desert heat,

Something most precious unfailingly grows,

And should you stand steadfast even as petals fall

You belong here when they once again come to call.

From time to time I fall short of grace,

But I can rise above this dirty town

With a purity it can’t erase -

You can count on me when the chips are down…

I can still be your Vegas baby.

That will never change.
