Live for the Day

Hesitate and no good will come.

There’s no option to press rewind.
Move. Get yourself into the thrum.
Blink once and you’ll be left behind.

How pitiful to look back and reflect
On a long line of stones unturned.
All that skepticism and disconnect
Beget bittersweet lessons learned.

I won’t let that happen to me.
I scoff aloud at what they call scary.
Headfirst I dive, wild and free.
Regrets aren’t in my vocabulary.

Come now while we still have time -
There’s plenty, but it goes by fast.
Today finds us in our prime -
Let’s try to make the moment last.

Bite the apple, guzzle the wine.
Don’t let the glories fade away.
Come with me, put your hand in mine
And vow now to live for the day,
For tomorrow we’ll be gone.
