I see the desperate faces in my mind.
On a loop again and again they play.
I try to stop yet I still press rewind
And further assess that shattering day.
All it took was ten seconds, give or take.
The sheer velocity overcame them
Yet they stayed conscious till that final brake,
Casualties of unspeakable mayhem.
I imagine the terror in their eyes,
The wind buffeting them beyond compare.
What a thing to look downward and realize
The hard, bloody fate awaiting them there.
It should have been you.
