I'll Pretend **

I've reached all the mountaintops in this range

Building history with each crevice and stone.

I've seen much more than only seasons change,

Winters and summers felt down to the bone.

I can make my way home with the back roads.

I know which rest stops boast friendly faces.

I've learned the lines of last night's episodes

And let them hit the gravel in traces.

Love has taken no mercy on my heart –

Although it always builds again it rips

Like a tide set on tearing me apart.

Still I dive in, the salt kissing my lips.

Yes, I'm old if there's only old and new...

Take me in your arms. I'll pretend for you.

My note for this final selection is a sincere thank you to whose who did me the tremendous honor of reading this collection. It means a great deal to me, especially in this age when nearly anything else could fill your time! If you're an artist, please share your work with me if you may. Hopefully we can learn from one another. Love, Rudy.
