Patience

I need so much correction.
I need so much possession.
Yes, I'm going to need all your attention
Tonight and tomorrow and the next day.

I should know that I can fall with trust,
Your arms always open for receiving.
I need to be yours, I simply must,
It's either that or be disbelieving,
One and only, cold and lonely,
A stray dog with his ears down
Resigned to the rough part of town,
Just passing through at a slow pace
Staring in at your fireplace.

I need so much correction.
I need so much possession.
Yes, I'm going to need all your attention
Tonight and tomorrow and the next day.

I would never use you as a crutch.
I can stand on my own two feet.
Still morning sees me long for your touch
And evening sees morning repeat.

Let me inside, let me reside.
I have to plenty to offer if you let me try.
The promise of tomorrow and the reasons why
All come together if you let them be.
Have patience with me and soon you will see.

I need so much correction.
I need so much possession.
Yes, I'm going to need all your attention,
Perhaps your protection
And most certainly your love and affection
Tonight and tomorrow and the next day.
