11. Come Back

I am not ready to eulogize

And so lift my eyes up high,

Wishing for some kind of compromise

On those stars up in the sky.

After departure you are needed more than ever

So I cannot accept that this must last forever.

Please come back –

It breaks the heart to sift through your traces.

I could search the world, so many places

For a light like yours among the faces,

Yet I know I would come up with nothing –

There will be no successor to the King.

Without you we are lost at sea

Longing for how things used to be;

Without you here to be our guide

We are fated to slip and slide

As we sail out this lonely journey

With the skies red, the tides turning.

Please come back –

Please come back.
