And while it is painful

to hear the power of fear,

when a freak like Phelps protests

we should inwardly cheer



that we live in a land

that can accommodate him,

Queer Nation,

PETA and Louis Farrakhan.



You needn't endorse it nor celebrate -

just appreciate that

anyone can preach

love, apathy or hate.



OTHERWISE:



are you qualified

to deploy the Speech Police

or write the Constitution

of Acceptable Thought?



Are you prepared to be punished

for your opinion -

the real reason  that "hate crime" laws

have been written?



And now that the beast has been unleashed,

YOU

may be on the list

of the Thought Police.



Either freedom is freedom

We should gather in protest
