For a Loved one

We couldn't understan why somneone so pure

was suddenly taken from here.

We must've been so selfish to want you

still near.

We knew in our hearts you had all that pain.

And where you needed to go and wanted to go

were not the same.

You thought only of us and how we could deal.

Not of the pain you shouldn't have had to feel.

We knew we had to put our pain aside.

To help you go through what you were trying to hide.

We knew we had to let you go.

So you could find that place you needced so.

So when you were taken from us so soon,

All we could do was open our hearts to make room.

So we could finally say thank you and know its not too late.

Because you will always be looking down on us from those Heavenly gates.

Author's Notes/Comments:

I found this in a book of poems my daughter wrote. She passed away in 2006, at the age of 27.  She wrote this when one of our dear little dogs was hit by a car and died
