unlikely treasures
Discarded thoughts collide,
cast aside once too many times;
now stride across crumpled sheets,
from creative springs that rise,
fuelling the pen and paper set alight.
Ideas once buried, now burst forth:
a battered note, a torn-out page,
exploding in fervent rage... each
critic's stab, each cut so deep,
pickaxes unearthing jewels, rough
but each one worth their keep.

"unlikely treasures” is about the surprising value of abandoned ideas;
of how the creative mind can resurrect what it once threw away and find gold in the rubble.
