LET'S SING OUR NASHVILLE BLUES

words and music kk ryder ©2004 (inspiration--My Uncle "Ramblin' Joe Durbin")

You sang at the House of Cash

Johnny smiled

You sang and played your guitar

for a little while

You played with Loretta Lynn

Teddy and Doyle  joined right in

Made  you smile

made you smile

For a little while

CHORUS

I'll carry this four leaf clover

Pick up every lucky penny I find

I won't step on a crack

I ain't lookin' back

Until I feel the spot light shine

I'm gonna carry this four leaf clover

And walk a mile in your shoes

And I don't even care whatever happens round there

I'm gonna sing my Nashville blues

We dream the same old dream

And we smile

Play our music for our friends

in our own style

We keep the dream alive

A heart has nothing to hide

so we smile yeah we smile yeah  we smile

CHORUS

So carry your four leaf clover

Pick up every lucky penny you find

Go ahead and step on a crack

Never  look back

Your heart will guide you...just like mine

So lets  carry our four leaf  clovers

Walk a mile together in our shoes

And let's not  even care what happens down there

Let's just sing our Nashville blues

No no don't even care what happen's round there

Let's  sing our Nashville blues

Author's Notes/Comments:

This song is based on the true story of my Uncle
"Ramblin'Joe Durbin"who had some lucky "breaks" in Nashville in the early 70's. Unfortunately He ran out of money and was forced to return home to Illinois where He still plays in Honky Tonks and church's.
I wrote this in a duet style so we can perform it on stage together!
