Bless me father, for I have spin!
Whilst Israel bathes in bad press of late,
The Pope, a Bavarian, will rehabilitate,
A man of God, excommunicate,
And holocaust denying reprobate,
Our Bishop, Richard Williamson.
This announcement, timed with accustomed care,
Sensitive, forgiving, well reasoned and fair.
I read it in the press today, just two days late,
The 27th of January.
Which, to my mind, is an awkward date.
A date that sits uncomfortably,
Both, with the forgiveness of religious bigotry,
And on the conscience of the German nation.
For today is the day of the Auschwitz liberation.
