"Overrated"

walking up to you

i can already tell

your presumptions

make your judgment

and tell you whether to buy or sell



i can feel your eyes

looking over me

weighing my looks against

how intelligent i might be



your friends laugh and giggle

point and clown

wondering who's this brave soul

about to get shot down



as i step closer are eyes meet

you smile at me, giving me a glimmer of hope

i'm sweating, trying not to trip

this walk is taking to long, i'm feeling like a dope



already your thinking

about what i want

hi is overrated

this all could be a front



your dressed to kill

beauty from head to toe

i can't help but stare

you wink, as if you know



i'm one table away

this place feels huge

feet feel like concrete

my heart needs refuge



the room is spinning

i'm wondering how i walk straight

contemplating what to say

could i already be to late?



your friends become silent

as i make my approach

i feel 5 inches' tall

like a cockroach



everyone's looking know

i better not mess this up

i'm shaking now

i can hear the plate hit the cup



as i open my mouth

you stop me with a nod

i look down at my crouch

hoping i didn't sprout a rod



your actually looking at the check

i'm holding in my hand

i wish i wasn't your waiter

i wish i was you man



i give you the bill

and set down your tea

i start to turn around

when i feel you grab ahold of me



i spin around fast

hoping that you ask

for my number

i'd love to live your past



but your just ready to pay

you hand me back the bill

and all my sputtering mouth could say

was "have a nice day"



i walk back to the kitchen

and sit down at the break table

hating myself for not talking to you

back to porn on cable



as i fool around with the check

i notice writing on the back

omg, its your name and number

i smile and add it to my stack



meeting people's overrated

its all in the act

i just might call you

if you get in the sack
