A fly

A shallow expression

Of a shallow insect.

A caricature of something

That doesn’t realize

It is represented at all.

Too small for language

It buzzes continuously,

Some sort of overture

To those who would squash it.

To those who invented and overlook

Anthropomorphism,

The father of religion.

Who would mimic nature’s representations,

And pretend the thing-in-itself doesn’t exist,

Or just as soon pretend

The thing-in-itself

Means something.
