Discrimation
I heard the stories
was fed the tails
at a school
where equality was
prime
and education
took second place
In the heart of a city
where we're all equals
and yet racism wasn't considered
a black against white thing.
But it was.
Battered and bruised
lost and confused
I was the white girl
at the back of the class
but I held no hatred
when they called me names
or pulled my hair
"They've been through it
countless more times.
Maybe this is their revenge
for something I didn't cause
but that the white community did."
But most of them never knew
this thing that was discrimination of race
just stories of the past
long, long ago
that they'd been forced to learn.
The slavery.
The poverty.
The taunts and tainted lies.
But why did they take out their
aggression
on this little white girl
who had a black boyfriend
who had an asian best friend
and tried so hard to fit in?
Revenge.
Equality.
Or just an excuse for violence.
I'll never understand...
