Nightmares
Somewhere in the night comes a strangled sob,
Which only happens when someone is truly broken,
There is a look that came with the loss of innocence,
An unmistakable feeling of guilt and shame,
Thou what had transpired was never your fault,
You would always carry it around with you,
A permanent black mark on your soul,
The shame you feel is unlike anything you can imagine,
You can’t look anyone in the eye without feeling it,
You know you can never be touched without a fleeting memory creeping up on you.
You always said you just wanted to be alone,
That is the worst place to be,
Cause it all cames back to you when your alone,
At night when there was nothing but shadows and monsters in the dark,
No light to guide you home from the pain.
