My mother's wish

Please don't stand by my grave and weep

For it is a bed of stone in which I sleep

My body is gone but my spirit remains

And I will cry down on you whenever it rains

My life was a journey that I traveled for years

With many broken hearts and many tears

Then there were times I was too happy to stand

I wish I could be there now to hold all your hands

You all meant more to me than life itself

When you got the news, I can't imagine how you felt

I had finally got my life back on track

But now its too late to ever look back

The dash between the dates doesn't stand for death

But all the years I lived instead

So please don't cry or shed any tears

I will have you all with me in a number of years

Author's Notes/Comments:

This poem I wrote form my mother's point of view about what I thought she would want to say to the ones she loved.
