The TRAVELER has come

wall-eyed we stare

where stars blink

in an orbit

in our eyes

a photograph taken

the flash arrives

on the other side

of the lake

a wind has blown

and slightly, slightly

bends the light

caresses it

and when mammoths walked

or birds were flightless

the darkness beckoned

with promises

we are waiting

for the flash

for something to say

Smile
