I wanted to return to that place,
Where the skies were miraculous and
The waters were fierce. I remember
The scent of the atmosphere –
The ocean springs pervaded far & near. I
Was thinking of the soul – that
Great body of light. All that I
Loved that night: the water
Beating against my body, cleansing my
Soul & enhancing my sight. I
Looked at the ugliness of the world –
At the dirtiness beneath the heart of the waters –
And saw a kind of beauty. The seagulls
Shadowed the waves, like the Night
After the Day’s secrets. The wind
Spun in circles; whirled the waters until
It captured us. We made love,
Pursuing the body’s destination, kissing the
Tenderest places. You were cautious –
Afraid of opening your heart. I
Was the one who took risks – pursuing
Love though discouraged by thoughts.
The Angels were beautiful, yet envying the
Smile upon your face. I suppose that’s why
You remain with the waters. I
Want to forget that place.
