Troubles become waves that wash her dreams aside
So I want her to see it's not really the tide
That's dissolving the sand around her
No one knows how much longer
She must cry until her life opens wide
I so want her to look to me and feel my understanding
And how it runs so deep
Too deep to even realize
I've no need to try to comprehend her sigh
And when her tears become oceans in her pretty blue eyes
I know I cannot make them dry
I can only offer my shoulder
And both my arms to hold her
And realize it doesn't matter why
I just want her to look to me and know I'm understanding
And how it runs so deep
Too deep to even analyze
A pain that more than justifies her cry
When her life becomes a blurry, muddled mess
I know I'm not the answer for her happiness
I offer just to care
While brushing back her auburn hair
And hope the more I give is no less
When she looks to me, than my full understanding
And how it runs so deep
Too deep to even fantasize
There's no need to ever comprehend a kiss
