My and my blankie have been through a lot,
it goes wherever I go.
Like with me outside to play on the swings,
or even to play in the snow.
~
We go on lots of adventures,
throughout my big backyard.
See wild tigers and flying butterflies,
and search for treasures afar.
~
My mommy wants me to wear a coat,
cause she doesn’t want me to get cold.
But all I need is my blankie like always.
I hope I always have it to hold.
~
The other day I cried when mommy,
said it needed to be washed.
So she put it in the wash machine.
I hope it didn’t get squashed.
~
But the whole reason I cried,
is she said it was covered in dirt.
I just hope when she washed it,
that my blankie didn’t get hurt.
~
One adventure that we took,
is one I’m glad I had my blankie.
It comforted me while I was hurt,
cause I fell and scraped my knee.
~
Mommy says when I grow up,
I’ll have to put my blankie away.
She says I’ll be too old for a blankie,
and I’ll have to grow up someday.
~
That makes me sad to know,
that blankie has to go bye-bye.
I know when that day comes,
that I’m gonna cry and cry.
~
But today I saw a sad kid,
that looked a little younger than me.
She had no place to live,
no place that I could see.
~
The only warmth she got,
was from some old newspaper.
She had no coat or shoes on her feet,
so this is what I gave her.
~
I gave her my old blankie,
cause I think she needs it more.
And mommy says I’ve grown up more,
that the days before.
~
I’m glad she has my blankie,
but I have something to say to you.
If you’re cold while reading this,
I’d give you my blankie too!
~
Well that concludes my story,
of the adventures of blankie and me.
I hope you enjoyed all you read,
and remember help those in need.
