I Saw

Folder:
June 2002 Poetry

I saw a vision of us,

walking on the beach.

We were holding hands,

and talking about everything,

like we always do.

I saw a vision of us,

watching the beauty,

of a sunset.

Holding each other close,

and never letting go.

I saw a vision of us,

quite different than before.

We were walking away from each other,

and had said goodbye,

for one last time.

But before you boarded your plane,

you whispered “I Love You.”

So I did the first thing that came to mind.

Turned and ran,

back into your arms.

I didn’t want to let you go,

but I knew I had to.

You have family afar,

and other priorities,

more important than I.

I quickly kissed the teardrops,

upon your face,

and then walked away.

I saw a vision of us,

saying goodbye,

now,

but not forever.
