Last Breath

You stroll into the party,

and set down your keys.

Ask for a beverage,

no ice please.

~

The party goes on,

and so do the drinks.

But when its all over,

no one stops to think.

~

You pick up your keys,

set down your beer,

start up your car,

switch to first gear.

~

You pull out of the drive way,

and head for the street.

And had yet to realize the maker,

you were about to meet.

~

Buy you were not watching,

and you failed to see,

that you hit another car,

cause drinking and driving don’t agree.

~

You fled the scene that night,

from the mangled twisted cars.

Landed yourself in prison,

caged behind steel bars.

~

A huge mistake you made,

you left them here to die.

Their family members and friends,

unable to say good bye

~

I was there that night,

when you hit that other car.

For I am your Guardian Angel,

sent from afar.

~

I came to save you,

so you’d live for your mistake.

But was powerless for the others,

who’s lives that you did take.

~

Did you ever stop to think,

someday that could be you,

or someone you hold dear,

if then, what would you do?

~

Irresponsible actions,

lead to innocent death.

A burden to carry with you,

till you take your last breath.
