Rose Tinted Frames

Folder:
2001 Poetry

I wake in the morning,

open my eyes to a new day.

Blurred is my vision.

Reaching out

to a table where my glasses sit.

My fingers gently stumble

over pens, rings,

and other miscellaneous things.

Eventually I reach them,

and put them on.

My vision restored.

Yet I close my eyes,

and take one last glance at you.

Before I get ready,

for the day ahead.

A daydream.

Listening to your voice,

and smiling as I hear you say I love you.

I don't need these rose tinted frames,

to see how much I love you.

Or the love we share.

Yet others,

insist we are nothing.

It's just puppy love.

But I know how I feel.

and I know it will last...

for a lifetime.

I don't need these rose tinted frames,

to see what's true.

Author's Notes/Comments:

I wrote this on 10-3-01. It's about being in a relationship and having to listen to other people's crap when they say it won't last.
