There was a point in time when I walked like you
Treated life like it was new
I wouldn't then if only I knew
It started on my 21st
I went to a bar not expecting the worst
Celebrating with a couple of drinks
Not even then did I stop to think
Staggering, I got into my Jeep
As I started to drive, felt the feeling of sleep
If I ever thought, I would never suspect
The misfortune that would happen next
Just as I began to dream
I look up in time to hear a scream
Later on, I remember as I am waking
Someone's life I am taking
My alcohol level was way beyond right
I will never ever forget that night
As it turns out, the person's life I took
Was the author of a famous book
The book was entitled "Don't Drink at the Wheel"I can't believe she was the one to deal
Now as I sit here in my chair
I regret how I was not aware
Of the death drinking and driving can do
Never again will I walk like you
