Slipping Away

Folder:
Johnny

I try to grasp your hand

but you're slipping farther away

I pull with all my might

try with all my fight

But no matter what I say

you still feel safer letting go

I pleaded with you to just hold on

that we'd make it in the end

Then all of a sudden,it was me holding again

still you let go again.

It never felt like you noticed

I was hanging onto my life

calling out for you

And you stood silently against the building            watching me try to escape death

Then the weather changed

as it began to rain

I saw who you truly were.

Through the lightning and thunder

a storm like no other

I saw who you truly were.

and never again questioned your identity

For I now knew the person inside

when I looked into your eyes

Still holding on with you ignoring my cries

           I saw who you were

While I was slipping away

from all things sane

On that stormy night

Drowning in rain.
