Cherished Memories

Folder:
Family/Friends

Remember the first day we met

At your house for Thanksgiving

How could either of us forget?

That was just the beginning

You brought a smile to my face

When I didn’t have one to show

In your heart I had a place

A place no one else could go

When we dreamed up our futures

We were always together

Knowing without a doubt

We’d be best friends forever

Spending every vacation we had

Making memories we’d obtain

Never fought, never got mad

We were too busy raising Cain

Singing made up songs in the park

Spinning on the merry-go-round

Scaring each other in the dark

By making creepy sounds

We lugged our Barbies everywhere

And walked barefoot in the streets

Then graduated to make-up and hair

And guys we tried to meet

You always knew how to make me laugh

Something I needed back then

And when things went wrong on my behalf

You never stopped being my friend

When I left, you knew I’d come home

Even when I insisted I wouldn’t

I was stubborn, I should have known

But you still believed in me when I couldn’t

So many years and we’ve come a long way

From those two silly girls we used to be

And here you are on your Wedding Day

Standing right in front of me

So many changes throughout the years

And now you have a new last name

It’s hard for me to hold back the tears

Because there’s nothing that’s the same

But the joy I see on your face today

As we gather to celebrate your new life

Will stand out from the memories we’ve packed away

Cuz I witnessed your vows as a wife

And it’s something I’ll always cherish

Because I love to see your smile

These memories we’ve made will not parish

Especially the one of you walking down the aisle ~
