with expressive eyes

telling what my mouth cannot. 

I'm a born American

with a writer's mind crafting penmanship

freely soaring across pages

like a bird trapped in a cage

and to take flight of freedoms.

I'm born American

versifying my poetry

with diversity's helping styles

paint what hearts can't. 

I'm a born American

converting my language

into a badge of ink stained

America's women's history.

I'm a born American

with poetic wings flying

into your eyes

to be cherished, honored, appreciated,

and push authors to strive

for owning American heritage

to be eagles of independence.
