You may not be
my mother through blood,
but you are my mother through
spirit, soul, compassion,
understanding, wisdom, strength,
love, and things that
blood isn't strong enough
to hold in its hands,
but yet you manage to
with a natural ease.
You may not be
my mother through blood,
but you are my mother
in ways we connect through
not only words, but actions.
You may not be
my mother through blood,
but no matter what
I love you.
