Peering into autumn eyes
he sees her shattered insides
bleeding through tight lips
painted with cosmetics
like her porcelain face
too perfect to touch
beneath a tracing finger
or understanding lips
when her banana peel yellow
hair hides her bruised
shoulders from being shaken
into unconsciousness before tearing
away her dignity along with
pleated pants no longer belted
to keep her rice pudding
blouse neatly in place
as her pounding heart drummed
