Standing at the door
behind a cart
blind as a bat
trying to be kind
while people walk past.

Standing at the door
behind a cart
with beautiful unseeing eyes
showing how soulful she is
while associates ignore her.

Standing at the door
behind a cart
struggling to see shadows
and listening with not only her ears,
but her heart.

Standing at the door
behind a cart
being a friend
without the majority
being receptive.

Standing at the door
behind a cart
being a phenomenal woman,
who deserves better
than being "only" a greeter.
