Dried Rose (abstract)

Karyn Indursky

Out of my haven I'm plucked selfishly
and given away without democracy
as I'm stuck living long days in captivity
while dreaming of flapping ugly wings into safety
from her oogling eyes looking at him brilliantly
upon receiving my removed  vanity
altering their seasonal love while I'm unfortunately
withering on old oak floorboards obediently
for her feet to crush my limbs carelessly
before sweeping this nature's rug automatically
into her garbage for cleaning up a causality
lost in her love tainted memory
and raccoons come to attack mercilessly
to allow my remains to scatter loosely
before another collects all of me diligently
once wild winds have settled into tranquility
amongst chatting creatures watching me ironically
be ironed in her book for storing my beauty
of being a dried rose.
