Always laughing at her
messy stable brown hair
and puffy eyes. Always laughing
at her nervous hands shaking
as she drops her tray. Always
laughing at her stuttering in
front of groups. Always laughing
at her crying without any
words. Always laughing at
her fumbling over the right
words or answers. Always laughing
at her gawky movements
and need to hold a book
to her chest. Always laughing
at her eyes never meeting
yours. Always laughing at
her sitting alone or daydreaming
under a maple tree. Always
laughing at her endless attempts
to fit in. Always laughing at
her until her intelligence disgraces
yours with every tests. Always laughing
at her until she stops caring
what you think. Always laughing
at her until she can afford
to wear make up, the right
clothes, and hair down. Always
laughing at her until she
overcomes every obstacle
you throw at her. Always
laughing at her until you
stop judging her and get
to know her beneath your
superficiality. Always laughing
at her until you find yourself
being alone as she moves on.
Silenced laughter.
