I grew up long before
my body every did
with my young mind
prematurely planning what I
needed to do immediately
instead of what game
would be fun for
self indulgence like checkers,
but mind I did not
for even for a second because I knew
what had to be done
and I wouldn't stop playing  
my role in my family.
