Humid summer air fades
for the jacketed children to play
with multicolored autumn leaves
raked by mommy and daddy
as they collapse in laughter
from the little troopers tackling them
solidly to fall into the pile
in sheer enjoyment of our
beloved environment receiving awaited love
when giggling erases frustration at
an impeccable speed never thought feasible
by these spirits playing joylessly together
into winter's embrace.
