Do you see me?
If you think you do, you're wrong.
You don't see me.
You see what I want you to see.
You see the mask that I wear.
You will never see anything but that mask, unless I allow you to.
The same goes for you.
I've never seen you, and I never will.
You see, it's part of being a human.
We hide our flaws and everything else we wish to keep a secret.
It's a way to protect yourself, your real self.
If someone doesn't know you, they can't hurt you.
But is it really worth it?
Are you really protecting yourself, or are you doing more harm than good?
I don't know, and I can't tell you because we've never met.
But if you ever find out, let me know.
Maybe then we'll finally get to meet.
Very, very, very good! "We hide our flaws and everything else we wish to keep a secret. It's a way to protect yourself, your real self."...very true. Your feelings speak loudly while I was reading this poem. Made me think as well :)
