My body to the grave will go
Down in a wooden box
Laid to rest in comfort
Wearing shoes and socks.
But no matter how it goes
It's all the same to me
I don't intend to be around
When they bury it, you see.
For I shall be with Jesus
My spirit with the Lord,
My body will go to the grave
Stiff as an ironing board !
Many there may gather
Around my burial plot
Some will say, 'he's with the Lord'
Others, 'no he's not !'
Now it dosen't really matter
What other people say
For I shall be with Jesus
And come with Him that Day.
So I think it will be wise
To save those shoes and socks
Give them to the poor
And bury just the box !
