Abduction

Children sad and lost stapled to a wall,

muffled together so we can’t hear them bawl.

Crying for all to hear their crimson plea,

bleeding together praying to be free.

Taken by those who have no earthly soul,

with hearts cold and black whom we can’t control.

Preying on the legacy which is ours,

ripping them away and leaving us scars.

Tears of humanity lost to the dark,

taken mercilessly by these earth bound shark.

Predators trolling the streets of our towns,

quietly going about their cruel rounds.

We must band at once and take up the cause,

Saving our children without giving pause.

Author's Notes/Comments:

The Couplet Sonnet

As the name suggests this variation is comprised solely of rhyming couplets. The rhyme scheme is self apparent. There is no discernable volta, but that can be left to the writer's discretion.
