Man vs. Tree

Folder:
2003 Poetry

Does anybody see the similarities

between a man and a tree.

They don't really start to mature

until their nuts fall.

In the autumn, leaves fall from trees,

as opposed to a man's hair falling out.

They both grow deep roots as they get older,

feeling comfortable in their environment.

With age comes a widening of the trunk,

and I'm getting thicker around the middle.

The only problem I find is that my wood

isn't as hard as it was when I was a sapling.
