Forgiveness Unfound

2003 Poetry I search deeply within my heart,
looking for a way to forgive you.
All I find there is stone and ice,
hard and cold with your image.
Not matter how much I chip away,
I can't find the warmth that once was.
The hurt is imbedded much too deep,
to break away the cold that remains.
I so wish it wasn't this way,
for we had many years of joy and love.
Now you have gone too far,
extinguishing the flame forever.
