Pipers in the Distance

Folder:
2003 Poetry

I can hear the sound of pipers in the distance,

playing that solemn song for someone's passing.

It always puts a tear and sadness in my soul,

knowing someone will not see the next sunrise.

The air is fresh with the breeze of a slight east wind.

Scent of lilacs drifting over the final resting place,

of all the souls that have lived and died before us.

Sad it is that life is so short and we're gone so fast.

We have to grasp this magical gift we've been given,

taking full advantage of the opportunities we have.

If not we have squandered this precious opportunity

to leave our mark behind when it's our time to pass.
