The Third Day

A normal day in my life at one time,

Seemed to make no reason and no rhyme.

Decisions were made on feeling fine.

Emotions ruled, my life was, after all, mine.

Cheerfulness caused my happy days,

Sad events brought blocked suns rays.

One day I was told about a man,

He lived and died, but he rose again.

My friend was sure, I’d like to know.

The man who died - - His love to show.

She told me about His life on earth,

Spent teaching about His Father’s worth.

The people pressing to get what they could.

Healing, love, joy, not giving as they should.

He had twelve men who followed close.

Learning their Master’s love, God’s glory shows.

The men were with their Lord so dear.

When crowds adoring changed to jeers.

They wanted this blessed man’s life to give.

They’d show Him! He’d not as a King live!

On the mans head a crown of thorns was forced.

They wanted to claim each drop of blood that coursed.

They’d put him in a rich man’s tomb for good.

Then normal life would return to the neighborhood!

Then suddenly the sky turned black as night,

The Temple veil ripped! Satan trembled in fright!

But the man was buried just as planned.

Satan thought he’d won, man forever from God banned!

But on the third day, two Mary’s went

Their precious Lord’s body would not be unkempt!

When they arrived , they found the stone gone.

An Angel showing them a spiritual Dawn!

The Risen Lord, my friend promised me, lives!

My life to be His, just my heart to give.

I knelt with my friend and into my heart.

He entered with joy, giving me a new start.

Suddenly my life was brightly lit,

Light from God’s presence, I was saved from the pit.

My decisions became based not on feelings

But on God’s wisdom, while old hurts are healing.

The darkness gone, replaced by light,

From sin I’m redeemed, blindness changed to sight.

His glorious majesty now dwells in my life.

I live to tell others, there is freedom from strife!
