I never knew my grandfathers, both of them died before I was born. Ever since I was little I watched Formula 1 races with my dad and my uncle Victor. This man was our neighbor; he was the husband of my dad’s secretary, he was old. He enjoyed watching the races with us and so we did. It was always at his place, in a special TV room he had just for Formula 1. I remember that TV room very well, it had a couch for 2 and a single-seater sofa, where my dad used to sit, I was always right beside my uncle every race. I remember his huge TV that had this special HD channel just for Formula 1 races, he paid for no commercials, he was a huge fan. He had a big case for controllers, most of them were never used, at least not when I was there. In the wall in the back he had a huge Ferrari Formula 1 team flag, it was the team he used to love. In the right, there were 3 shelves; each of them filled with old VHS cassettes with videotaped races from years ago, even before I was born. In those same shelves he also had 2 model f1 cars, both from the 70’s, a black Lotus and a red Ferrari. Every time a Ferrari driver did something good like an overtake, approach somebody, or win a race he stood up and started to celebrate like crazy and the videotapes and cars started to stagger dangerously. This also happened when Lewis Hamilton, the driver he hated the most, did something wrong like spin out, crash out or something like that. I remember a window, behind the TV. Most of the races are in Europe so we watched them almost every Sunday morning, at 7am. I remember every time we went there I looked at the window and it was dark but when the race was over it was rise and shine. I don’t know, it’s just something I remember. Being in there every race was something I really enjoyed, no matter how early or how late the race was, we were all together in that room every race, we shared something that meant a lot to us. It is sad that he couldn’t beat cancer but I’m always going to remember those good races and good times we had. (401 words)
