"Lost At Sea"

Lost At Sea

Echoes of her name whispering all I'm feeling
wishes swirling in winds capturing time in my heartbeat,
spoken in soft sighs
her voice always calling me home

If only my heart had wings

I could have found the heart~prints she left for me
before the dark side of the moon
tangled the shadows of our love.

An auburn sunrise awakens a morning stir
before realizing last nights moonlit kisses
were just a dream lost in the fade of moist teardrops

If only my heart had wings

I would have lassoed a wild love
dew~drenched in the sweetest of blossoms
opening beautiful petals
bathed in the glory of golden sun rays.

Now I live with a burning in my eyes
as too many secrets were revealed
in a lost weekend
where wishes found me tasting my own rain,
salty from a sea of sorrow
on my ship of fools

If only my heart had wings

I could have saved our cherished heaven
we shared in the promise of vows,
but alas I have no wings
and you have faded from everything,
except for my heart,

Where you will always belong.
