There are many defining moments in a lifetime
where answers are unspoken upon lips

in winds of change looking for a pocket
to curl up in while storms pass through
to the other side.

where quiet hangs heavy
as the core of thunder is silenced
by the solitude of nowhere else to go
in a mind frozen by so many moments
brushed in the blues of lonely
and reds of weeping solace
found in the comfort of your own hands
wiping away the tears
you held so long in secret.
In the fear
that losing is all you'll ever know
dictated by a history of failure,
from the seas
where your battleship sank trying to save her
from the shore
where you couldn't climb the hill to free her
in the jungle
where to many others want her
and you're to afraid to find her
because your offer is all you have,
your heart
and is that really ever enough?
In the courage
to break down the walls
that took years to build,
protecting you from yourself
when in reality hiding is what you do best
keeping scars covered by bricks and stones
and one-way mirrors bought at the side-show
you attended years ago
because you knew it made you seven foot tall
and bullet proof
and after the last funeral procession
you knew you couldn't be the master of ceremonies again.
In the beauty
where every other moment in life means nothing
when enraptured by such breathtaking splendor,
If you are defined in just one moment of time
and it can be the beautiful love of another
then the still that hangs so heavy
becomes the light of sunshine
that beams into a new awakening with each step into the future,
